Upon successful completion of your I.E why not enroll in the Master
Scuba Diver Trainer Preparation and Internship Program.
The
preparation course is scheduled over three days. We teach you
how to plan, conduct and market PADI Specialty Diver training
courses in at least 5 area's. The program includes Knowledge Development
and a Standards review specific to the Specialty courses you have
chosen to do.
Candidates
are also required to present sections of the Academic’s
in the classroom, participate in in-water workshops as well as
Open water teaching presentations.
You
can chose the specialties that you wish to teach. Once we’ve
completed the Preparation phase you then need to achieve the minimum
pre-requisite of 25 PADI diver certifications before you can apply
to PADI for the prestigious Master Scuba Diver Trainer Rating.
The
second phase is the internship. This allows you to work alongside
our team of Master Instructors team teaching all levels of PADI
diver courses.
Initially,
working under the direct supervision of an experienced instructor,
we begin to build your teaching skills and confidence, giving
advice and valuable tips.
Gradually
you are given more and more responsibility as our staff take a
back seat. During the final phase you will be independently teaching
courses and will even have the opportunity to earn your first
teaching commissions!

Increase your
employment opportunities...
Furthermore, the Instructor Internship greatly increases your
chances of employment. Instructors who have completed the MSDT
Internship have found employment opportunities both on Koh Tao
and elsewhere a lot easier.
Not only will
you have practical experience of real-life teaching, rather than
being an instructor who has simply completed the IE, but you will
also have a minimum of 25 PADI certifications.
Watching senior instructors teaching is as invaluable as the IDC
itself. Many of our instructors have over 1000 certifications
and are happy to provide their insights into the most effective
teaching methods. By team-teaching with several different instructors
through the internship, you will see many different approaches
to adapt to your own teaching style.
There is no
time limit to the Internship - you can continue to team teach
with other instructors as long as you wish.
Do you have any further questions about the MSDT Preparation course
and Instructor Internship course?
E-mail Matt direct for answers on matt@idckohtao.com.

For all those MSDT's out there why not increase your standing
within the profession and enroll on an IDC Staff Instructor course.
Auditing
an entire IDC you will learn how to evaluate each IDC candidate
in Knowledge Development, Confined Water and Open Water presentations.
Working alongside our PADI Course Director Matt Bolton, we will
teach you how to correctly evaluate as well as critique candidates
performances.
We
will also work on your counseling skills in developing candidates
skill demonstrations and Rescue skills. Upon successful completion
you will be certified to independently conduct the Assistant Instructor
course as well as assist PADI Course Directors on complete IDC’s.
This
is a valuable qualification within the industry, enabling you
to increase your earning potential as well as vary your duties.
The IDC Staff rating is also an important pre-requisite for the
prestigious PADI Master Instructor rating.
